I'm a carer, get carers allowance, care for autistic non verbal son, what I find overwhelming is the amount of paperwork, now he's in his teens, plus housework and other stuff has to be done when he's at school, so can pay full attention when he's in, getting time for me is sometimes a prob too. We have respite once a fortnight for two hrs, sometimes it would be nice to just have someone there for help or advice with the paper work alone, specially now I am on my own coping since hubby passed.
